TechCrunch reports that Anthropic says its technical workforce has become less junior over roughly the past year, while employees are spending more time in calendar-based meetings.
According to the report, the share of junior-level employees in Anthropic’s technical departments fell from 21% to 14% since early 2025. Junior employees accounted for 9% of technical hires, down from 27%, the company said. Technical teams also declined from 61% to 56% of Anthropic’s overall workforce.
Anthropic said calendar-based meeting time per employee rose 20% from a year earlier, including a 16% increase for technical contributors. The report does not provide the underlying calendar data, define “meeting time,” or say whether the figures are means or medians.
TechCrunch also reports that an April 2026 Anthropic employee survey found 27% of employees said Claude made them more productive, while 20% said their work had shifted toward managing Claudes. The report does not state the survey’s sample size, response rate, question wording, or whether the results represent Anthropic’s full workforce.
Anthropic attributed the changing workforce mix to business-function expansion as it scales and to coding tools allowing nontechnical employees to make software. That is the company’s explanation, not an independently established causal finding. The underlying Anthropic report was not available for independent review, and the reported figures should be treated as a company-specific snapshot rather than evidence of a broader AI labor-market trend.
