Apple is leaning into the AI boom while keeping its infrastructure spending below the levels weighing on some competitors, according to The Verge’s account of the company’s latest earnings.
The company reported its best-ever fiscal year for revenue and earnings per share. The Verge also says iPhone and Mac sales continued to grow strongly in the fourth quarter, with iPhone revenue up 17.5%.
Apple’s approach combines development of its own AI capabilities with support for technology from other companies. That gives the company a way to participate in the expanding AI market without taking on the same infrastructure costs as competitors whose strategies depend on much larger spending commitments.
The results suggest Apple is pursuing AI as part of a broader hardware and services business rather than treating infrastructure investment as the central measure of its progress.
