Former Palantir executives have launched Dream, an AI startup focused on building “world models” for the construction industry, TechCrunch reports.

The company has raised $17 million from Andreessen Horowitz, according to the report. Dream says it has trained its technology on data covering 100 million square feet of building permits.

Dream is positioning the approach as a potential challenge to Autodesk, whose software is widely used across architecture, engineering and construction. The startup’s reported focus suggests it wants to apply AI to the planning and design information embedded in construction documents and permits, though additional details about its products and commercial plans were not provided.
