Elon Musk has invested approximately $1 billion in Skydance, according to a report from Semafor cited by TechCrunch.
The reported investment was made around the same time as equity contributions from other Skydance investors, including board member Laurene Powell Jobs. Skydance did not immediately respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment.
The financing comes as Skydance works to integrate Paramount+ and HBO Max following Paramount’s reported $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. The combined company also includes networks such as CBS, CNN, MTV, TBS, Comedy Central and Food Network.
TechCrunch reported that the investment could provide financial support as Skydance seeks to reduce costs and improve its stock performance. The company has committed to cutting $6 billion in costs over the next three years.
Musk has previously praised the Ellison family and has a longstanding relationship with Oracle founder Larry Ellison, who helped finance Musk’s 2022 purchase of Twitter and invested in Tesla.
