General Motors executive Sterling Anderson does not believe humanoid robots should be used to build cars, according to The Verge.

The comments came after GM presented a technology roadmap at an event in New York City last week. The automaker’s plans center on AI-driven vehicle development, advanced battery technology, high-powered computing systems for cars and autonomous driving.

Some elements of the roadmap were already known. GM has been developing hands-free, eyes-off driving automation and testing new battery chemistries. Anderson’s position places the company’s approach to factory robotics in the broader context of its push to apply AI across vehicle development and operation.
